Compare the Arowana and 8-Shape Double Carps to see which feng shui fish suits your wealth goals, space, and maintenance preferences.
Quick Answer
Choose the Arowana if you want a compact, versatile wealth enhancer for desks or shelves. Choose the 8-Shape Double Carps if you prefer a larger, earth-element piece that symbolizes harmonious prosperity and can anchor a prominent space.
Why the Arowana and Double Carps Differ
In feng shui, both fish are associated with wealth, but they work differently. The Arowana is often called the 'dragon fish' and is believed to attract abundance and success, especially in career and business. The Double Carps, arranged in the number 8 shape, emphasize the earth element and the harmony of two fish swimming together, which is tied to balanced and sustained prosperity.
Their physical differences also matter. The Arowana figurine is compact (2 x 4 x 1.5 inches) and lightweight (250g), making it easy to place on a desk, shelf, or small altar. The Double Carps are larger (4.5 x 3 x 7 inches) and heavier (550g), so they command more visual presence and need a stable surface.
Material and Placement Considerations
The Arowana is made from fibre resin, which is durable and suitable for indoor use. The Double Carps are described as earth material, which aligns with the earth element in feng shui. This means the Double Carps may be more appropriate for spaces where you want to strengthen earth energy, such as the center of a room or an area associated with stability.
Placement advice differs: the Arowana's compact size lets you position it in wealth corners without overwhelming a small space. The Double Carps, being taller, work better on a shelf, mantel, or entryway table where they can be seen clearly.
How to Choose Between Them
- Space available: If you have a small desk or shelf, the Arowana's compact size fits easily. If you have a larger surface like a mantel or entryway table, the Double Carps' height and presence work better. Measure your intended spot before choosing.
- Wealth goal: The Arowana is traditionally linked to attracting abundance and success, especially in career or business. The Double Carps symbolize harmonious, sustained prosperity—ideal if you want balance and long-term growth. Match the fish to the type of wealth you want to enhance.
- Feng shui element: The Double Carps are earth material, which strengthens earth energy. The Arowana is fibre resin, which is more neutral. If you need to balance earth in your space, the Double Carps are the better choice. Consider your space's existing element balance.
